What are you involved in at Penn:

I am one of the Editors-in-Chief for Punchbowl, a Managing Editor for Under The Button, in Zeta Tau Alpha, and on the Sailing Team.

Tell me about Punchbowl:

Punchbowl is actually pretty exciting because we recently came out with our new magazine. It’s the “Musings Issue: Philosophy and Religion,” so if you’ve ever had, you know, the deeper questions, just turn to Punchbowl and we’ll help you get to the bottom of it. We come out with four print issues a year and we also have an online presence.

Awesome! Where can people get a copy?

In the Pubco stands around campus and we’ll also be distributing them on the walk. You can also visit our website: http://thepunchbowl.net

Why did you join Punchbowl?

So I was lowly, insecure freshman at the Student Activities Fair, back in 2012, and I was looking for things to get involved in. I walked past the table for Punchbowl and a tall boy leans over and says directly into my face, “YOU LOOK FUNNY!” I was half insulted but also half intrigued that someone would think that I was funny. So I showed up, and the rest is history.

What’s your favorite piece you’ve written for Punchbowl?

Last year, I wrote this review of the movie Lincoln in Punchbowl, a year after the movie had come out. And I reviewed the movie acting as though I was really confused about it, like I thought Lincoln was a bad dude and I didn’t understand the creative decisions. That was really fun to write because I’d never written a movie review. I enjoyed that.

What’s your favorite thing about Penn?

I hate Penn, so… Just kidding! I’ve loved the people I’ve met; I’ve never known such interesting people. Penn is also just really fun. There’s so much to do and I like being in Philadelphia. Wow, these are the most generic answers. I feel like I wouldn’t have become the person that I am, I wouldn’t have opened my mind or gotten involved in so many activities had I gone to a different school. Penn has helped me grow a lot.
