UO APP: Inexpensive and Classy Wines that will make an Impression

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

UO App

University of Ottawa’s guide to … wine on a student budget !

Bored with the same old wines you always buy? Once again lost in the France aisle at the LCBO or SAQ with no idea what to buy? Want to make an impression this holiday season but running on a student budget?

Shopping for wine can be daunting – especially during when you want to make a good impression at the New Years party you will be attending. No girl wants to be the one to bring the ‘cheap’ wine, but unfortunately our student-sized wallets make it hard to be throwing around bottles of Dom Préignon.

Luckily it is a common misconception that all inexpensive wines are awful and only expensive wines can truly make an impression. Her Campus U Ottawa has compiled a list of inexpensive and classy wines that will let you make an impression, without putting you into bankruptcy. I hope to see all fellow collegiettes sporting good choices this holiday season, and leaving the Naked Grape, Little Penguin and XO on the shelf!

If you still find yourself lost in the LCBO or SAQ do not hesitate to ask someone who works there for some help! All the employees are trained to answer your questions and love sharing wine knowledge. One final tip, avoid animal names or overly flashy bottles; they are usually trying to compensate for not having the best wine. Happy Wine Hunting collegiettes!
