If you’re anything like me, you don’t watch as much television as you would like during school. But here are some shows that have come out recently or have new seasons that you can watch this winter break!

White lotus (season 2)

There has been so much discourse on Twitter concerning this show. It seems like everyone is watching it. I was very scared I was going to get a spoiler (and I might have, sadly). This show is an anthology show, meaning each season revolves around a new set of characters. The first season took place in Hawaii, and the second is in Sicily. It’s full of eccentric characters and definitely should be on your watchlist. This show is available for streaming on HBO or Crave TV.

house of the dragon

House of the Dragon may have started airing in the summer before school even started, but once I had class, it was easy to lose track of it. This show revolves around the Targaryan family 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryan, the famous character from the Game of Thrones show. This show contains romance, very weird family dynamics, and betrayal, and is, all in all, very entertaining. If you loved Game of Thrones when it was airing, you would be sure to love this as well. It might even be able to mend any heartbreak left by the Game of Thrones finale. This show is available for streaming on HBO or Crave TV.

Wednesday

Tim Burton’s show concerning Wednesday Addams is one of many versions of her. However, Jenna Ortega’s performance seems to be getting lots of praise. The show takes place at a boarding school, and contains many supernatural elements. If you like spooky shows, you should definitely tune into this show. Stream now on Netflix!

The sex lives of college girls (season 2)

Mindy Kaling’s new show tells the story of four girls who meet in college and, evidently, learn about their sexuality. This is a great show for young people to watch. A plus is that it’s super relatable for anyone enrolled in university. With a strong cast of main characters, it’s definitely not a show you want to miss! This show is available for streaming on HBO or Crave TV.

Young Royals (season 2)

On November 1, the second season of Young Royals came out. With only six episodes (the same as the first season), it’s easy to binge. If you haven’t seen the first season, the show revolves around 16-year-old Prince Wilhelm as he is sent to a private boarding school and struggles with his sexuality. It’s a great coming-of-age show and isn’t very long, so you can finish it super quickly during the holidays! Watch it on Netflix.

This concludes my short list of shows to watch during your well-deserved break from school. If you just need to wind down, these shows are perfect. A bonus is that none of these shows’ new seasons exceed 10 episodes. So if you have difficulty maintaining focus, these are for you.
