Name: Kamela Nizio

Program and Year: Communications and Sociology, 4th Year

Hometown: Kingston, Ontario

Position: Vice President of Social Media

Her Campus uOttawa: What led you to choose your program of study?
Kamela Nizio:
The more I looked into what the program had to offer, the more I realized that this is what I wanted to go into.

HCuO: What made you apply to be a part of Her Campus?
KN:
I was looking for ways to get involved on campus, so when I saw that HCuO was looking for new members I thought it was the perfect learning opportunity! It helped that I was familiar with what Her Campus was all about.

HCuO: How is being Head of social media? Why did you apply?
KN:
It’s awesome! I love interacting with readers, promoting writers articles and helping HCuO have a presence on campus. I applied because my year as an intern was so much fun and I learned so much that I wanted to continue learning and gaining experience.

HCuO: What has been the most fun and challenging part about your position?
KN:
I love handling the Instagram and creating captions and statuses for promoting various things. It’s awesome being able to promote other members’ content and seeing how people react to it. The most challenging part can sometimes be trying to find the perfect picture or the best way of wording something to get a message across. My team is always there to help me though.

HCuO: What is the most stressful thing about being a university student?
KN:
Definitely time management. A lot of us have a full course load, we have jobs and are involved in extracurricular activities and that can all be a lot to handle. It’s really important to have some time for yourself, but that isn’t always easy.

HCuO: How are you involved on campus others than HCuO?
KN:
I am Secretary of Nu Sigma Pi, a local Ottawa sorority.

HCuO: What inspires you?
KN:
The people around me inspire me the most. If you surround yourself with hard working and motivating people it can really change your mindset.

HCuO: What are some things that are on your bucket list?
KN:
To visit my family in Poland during Christmas. I’ve only ever been in the summer seasons and I would love to see a Polish winter. I also want to live in my dream home one day in a warmer, bigger city. I would love to own a vacation home in Georgia or somewhere tropical.

HCuO: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
KN:
I see myself working in the fashion and beauty industry handling communication aspects or promotion for a company. I hope to be living in a bigger city and traveling more often. Having a dog or two is definitely in the picture as well.
