Hot or Not: The Body Shop’s new “Wild Argan” line

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

If you haven’t heard of The Body Shop’s new Wild Argan Oil line then you might want to cancel your plans and start heading to the nearest mall. Seriously, it’s that amazing! Now, I’ll admit that I’m completely biased when it comes to this store. In my opinion, The Body Shop has great products, great deals, and very helpful employees. It’s an all-around positive customer experience and once I tell you about this new line I’m sure you’ll feel the same way. But first let me tell you a little bit about Argan oil.

Argan oil comes from the nuts of Moroccan Argan trees. The nuts are squeezed together to produce this rich, golden liquid. Argan oil is very popular in today’s beauty industry and because it’s unique to Morocco, is also very precious. Many products on the shelves today will boast about using Argan oil as one of its main ingredients because of its inherent benefits to your skin and hair. In fact, Argan oil has been proven to help moisturize dry hair, tame frizz, and treat split ends. It also helps to add a healthy shine to hair and can even help firm and smooth your skin. With head-to-toe benefits like this, it’s no wonder Argan oil is in demand.

However, it is important to note that it is only pure Moroccan Argan oil that has these benefits. People have bought products with ingredients that mimic Argan oil and have actually caused breakouts. So if you’re going to get Argan oil, be sure to get 100% pure Moroccan Argan oil. That being said, The Body Shop’s new Wild Argan Oil line was created in partnership with local Moroccan women who are one of The Body Shop’s many Community Fair Trade Partners. So you’re definitely getting the real stuff here. My favourite product in this entire line is the Wild Argan Miracle Solid Oil.

The Wild Argan Miracle Solid Oil is a great product because you can use it both in your hair and on your skin. Plus, it smells amazing and is extra moisturizing without being too greasy. This is a great product to keep in your purse when you’re on the go or in your bathroom at home. Personally, I carry one around in my bag as hand cream and I’ve also been known to use it as emergency lip chap. It’s become an absolute essential and one of my favourite products at The Body Shop.

The only potential drawback is the price. At $14, I can understand the hesitation to load up on this product. However, like I said, The Body Shop has some great deals. Try stopping by during one of their Buy 1, Get 1 50% off events. Also, think about becoming a Love Your Body Member for an extra 10% every purchase. It’s $10 for a Love Your Body Membership Card but trust me when I say the savings will all add up.

So let’s review the pros and cons to this product.

Pros:

  • Non-greasy

  • Multi-purposeful

  • Smells great

  • Adorable packaging

  • Tiny and portable

Cons:

  • A little pricey

  • Small amount

And the verdict is: hot hot hot! The odds are definitely in your favour with this product and the entire Wild Argan Oil line which includes a body butter ($20), body scrub ($20), body lotion ($12) radiant oil ($20), shower gel ($9), lip balm ($6), and even bubble bath ($12). Honestly, once you start using it you won’t want to stop.
