There is a never-ending list of books to be read, all thanks to online hype. Every time I scroll through Instagram, it feels like 50 new books are added to my TBR—some I’m able to actually read, but most end up being shelves for whenever I eventually have time. Since the last time, I talked about hyped books (see parts one and two,) I’ve read a few more. Here’s what I thought of them.

All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata

Mariana Zapata is a featured name when it comes to romance books, and for a good reason. The queen of the slow burn, Zapata writes books that are longer than you’d expect a romance to be, but worth every single page. This one in particular is amazing. While the main couple doesn’t get together until later in the book, there is no shortage of feelings, looks, and innocent touches. This book follows Aurora as she moves back to a town from her childhood, and meets a man who just might be able to mend her broken heart.

In a Jam by Kate Canterbary

This popular book seemed to be the topic of every recommendation tweet I came across. It follows the story of Shay as she moves back (are we sensing a theme?) to take over her step-grandmother’s tulip farm under a couple of conditions, including getting married within the year. With her fiancé having just called off their wedding, she’s heartbroken. However, running into her high school best friend, Noah, will dig up old memories and form new ones. This book has an amazing idea and all the tropes I usually like. Unfortunately, strung all together, it wasn’t my favourite. That’s not to say it’s the worst, but it’s not making any top 10 favourite lists.

Marriage for One by Ella Maise

This book can be considered a classic marriage of convenience book. If you were to ask for recommendations with this trope, it’s almost guaranteed you’d find this title among those given, and it’s for good reason. This book is phenomenal. It follows Jack and Rose, who must get married so Rose can get her recently passed uncle’s property to open her coffee shop. Throughout the book, we see Jack doing his all for Rose, even while maintaining an emotional distance. Over the course of the book, they overcome their own problems and open up to one another. They form a relationship that is very strong and beautiful. This is definitely a book I recommend!

That’s another set of hyped books that I’ve read! I hope these recommendations make it easier to cut down on your TBR and allow you to focus on books you’re more likely to enjoy. Reading isn’t about reading as many books as possible but reading good books that allow us to enjoy and have fun.
