With the exit of Winter and the introduction of Spring, I would like to share a couple of my favorite movies that remind me of the renewal that goes with this season. I have found that movies I resonate with the most are those that are emotionally captivating and have themes that remind me of the rebirth of Spring. As the days grow longer and the sun sets later, it is important to enjoy the beautiful weather and to take some time to relax, which can be done by watching these movies.

  1. Spirited Away. My all-time favorite movie, produced by the lovely Studio Ghibli and the iconic Hayao Miyazaki, this coming-of-age story follows the journey of a young girl into a spirit world after moving to a new town with her family. While navigating this spirit world, Chihiro grows from her timidness and naivety, gaining love, friendship, and strength. This animated movie is stunning, with scenic views, sweet music, and a beautiful storyline.
  2. La La Land. This movie is probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me Despite its popularity, there are still many people who have not viewed it and really should! This film draws two characters together who are ambitiously chasing careers within the arts and end up falling in love. However, no love comes easy, as this aspiring actress and musician both learn that the simultaneous pursuit of their dreams leads to strains in their relationship. This movie proves how love is worth the risk and captures the growth of two wonderful characters, all in a dream-like ambiance.
  3. Your Name. The first time I watched this movie, I think I sobbed for a good thirty minutes because of how encapsulated I was with its beauty. This animated film features two characters who happen to switch bodies in their sleep. In switching bodies, the two characters learn much about each other and wish to meet in real life. However, trials and tribulations occur on their journey to unite. This movie has heart-wrenching scenes and symbolism that really resonates with viewers and is a must-watch if you are a hopeless romantic or you love plot twists.
