Diana Rosenbach ’12

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mich chapter.

Do you ever dream of starring in your own television talk show? Or even working behind the scenes producing, writing, and working the camera? While, at first glance, these may seem like unrealistic aspirations while you are still attending college, what many of you might not know is that U of M has its own student-run television station called WOLV-TV. Programming for WOLV airs on channel 55 in the university dorms, but the shows can also now be viewed online! WOLV’s programming ranges anywhere from entertainment to news and sports. For this week’s “Campus Celebrity,” HerCampus got the chance to interview senior Diana Rosenbach, the producer and on-air host of WOLV’s entertainment show, “Turned On.” The show is a weekly live call-in show that focuses on sexual health. Before you stop reading, this show is nothing like sitting through a dull health class. The on-air “sexperts” provide real, not to mention humorous, sexual advice and safety information that is sure to keep you hooked and tuning in each week.

HerCampus: I guess we should start with the most obvious question, how did you get involved with WOLV-TV?

Diana:  I learned about WOLV TV when I was going through sorority recruitment my freshman year. After a conversation with my rusher about high school extracurricular activities that I was involved in and my future career aspirations, she suggested that I look into WOLV. The mass meeting conveniently happened to be that night. I went, signed up for “Turned On” and have been hooked ever since.

HC: How did you land your position as producer and host of “Turned On”?

D:  At the mass meeting, the sports and news tables were packed with anxious newbies ready to join the cast and crew.  “Turned On, ” however, only had a hand full of people standing by the sign-up sheet.  To be honest, I was drawn to “Turned On” because others weren’t!  I knew that a smaller team meant a more hands-on experience.  That being said, the first few filmings were difficult!  I could not stop blushing and I definitely let out a few nervous giggles.  But, four years later, I could not be happier or more proud to be a part of this show.  I think that every college campus needs a “Turned On.”  Sexuality is an undeniable part of life.  Why not have a little fun with it?

HC: What are your future career aspirations? Do you plan on continuing to work in television?

D:  Yes! After graduation, I hope to be working for a television station.

HC: How can students get involved in WOLV-TV?

D:  WOLV is always looking for new people!  Check out http://wolvtv.org/ to get involved!

HC: Where and when can students watch your show?

D:  Our programming airs on channel 55 in the dorms. “Turned On” airs on Tuesday nights.  You can also watch our shows online!  We post weekly to vimeo.com/wolvtv.

HC: What is the most hilarious/embarrassing/interesting thing that has happen to you while working on the show?

D:  My dad loves to call in!  I don’t think it gets much more embarrassing than that…

HC: Does WOLV-TV have any social media holds, such as Twitter or Facebook?

D:  Yes!  The station as a whole utilizes various social networking sites.  Also, “Turned On” has a Facebook page! We post all sorts of things including full episodes and links to our blog! (www.wolvturnedon.blogspot.com

HC: If you wish to find out more information about WOLV-TV, check out the station’s blog or “like” the station on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/WOLVTV.
