My Top 5 Favorite Relaxing and Lighthearted TV Shows to Watch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Let’s be honest, we all love binge-watching TV shows. TV shows are a great way to unwind and relax after a long day (or even throughout the day). They have always been a comfort zone for me as I am transported into the reality and the world of the show. They offer me an escape from the real world and from all of my stressors in life and offer me a break from thinking about everything I need to get done. I love ending my day by watching an episode of my favorite TV show. Here are five of my all-time favorite TV shows.

Friends

Friends has been and always will be my all-time number one favorite TV show. I believe that there is no show, no matter how good it is, that can top Friends. Friends will always have a special place in my heart. This classic show has made viewers fall in love with its characters, its storyline, and its relatable jokes. The storyline follows a group of six friends who all live in the same apartment building together and the show takes us through their lives as they face life and love and the challenges and struggles that come along with that. Friends never fails to make me laugh no matter how many times I watch it.

New Girl

New Girl is pretty similar to Friends in my opinion and is another classic that many people love. The show has a lot of relatable characters and a lot of helpful life lessons. New Girl revolves around a heartbroken girl who moves into an apartment with three single guys. The storyline follows each of their lives and how they bond to form an unlikely and dysfunctional, yet supportive family

Good Luck Charlie

Good Luck Charlie is my all-time favorite Disney Channel TV show. I have grown up watching Good Luck Charlie and my entire childhood consisted of this show. The storyline follows a family that has four children, each vastly different in their own unique ways and facing their own challenges. The oldest daughter, Teddy, makes video diaries for her baby sister, Charlie in each and every single episode, and provides Charlie with some advice on how to survive their crazy, wonderful family

The O.C.

The high school drama and romance fanatic in me had to put The O.C. on this list. I came across The O.C. during the pandemic and I absolutely loved watching it together with my sister. This is a typical high school drama that is set in sunny California. The show revolves around Ryan, who comes from a poorer background and is taken in by the Cohen family who live in wealthy Newport. The show revolves around how Ryan is able to fit in and adjust to this new environment and the friendships and relationships that he makes along the way.

Never Have i ever

Never Have I Ever is a comedy-drama series that focuses on the life of an Indian-American teen who is trying to fit in at her high school. This is a typical coming-of-age high school drama. What I particularly like about this show is that it has more representation of the South Asian community as it features a predominantly South Asian and Indian cast. It also has the typical high school drama and romance component to it as well.

These are some of my favorite TV shows that I think everyone should watch!
