The Latest Fashion Trend This Season: Confidence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Style is a form of expression. Like all other forms of artistic outlets, whether that is drawing, acting, painting, dancing etc., being able to express yourself via your wardrobe is your own outlet of self-expression. The possibilities are endless and I like to live my life with this in mind. Fashion has always been a prominent factor in my life throughout the years. As I grow, learn, change, experience, travel, and mature, my style does as well and I like to be able to communicate who I am to the world with more than just me as a person. What I wear is a complete continuation of who I am, who I was, and who I want to become; and if a stylish studded-leather boot helps me do that, then who’s to complain?

After studying abroad for a semester in London, the best fashion trend I took away from the very stylish Brits would be their confidence. I was exposed to some of the most bizarre yet incredibly fabulous fashion trends I had ever seen. At first my initial thought was of how they make that work so well, because they would make the craziest outfits and the coolest and latest things to wear come together and look amazing!

My friends, the secret was their confidence. Whether the fabulous Brits were aware of it or not, they would strut down Oxford Street or around Camden Town not giving a damn what the person next to them thought, or if they did they had this amazing ability to fake it really well. So I give you this to take away, confidence is key and is the latest and hottest fashion trend around. And if you’re sitting here thinking that you’re too insecure to be that confident, I implore you to fake your confidence, because I bet you 9 times out of 10 you’ll end up believing it and it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Confidence is key, my fashion-crazed friends, so don’t forget when leaving the house this winter season in your latest outfit to put on that confidence (it really does go with everything)!
