One of hair’s hottest trends right now is the sock bun. It is the perfect hairdo for when you are sporting a classy or professional look but it also comes in handy on days when you wake up late and don’t have time to pull out all of the straightening tools and curling irons. I am always wearing a sock bun because it is easy, fast, and looks cute. Many people rely on the hair donut to master a sock bun but I’m telling you; you don’t need it! You can use an actual sock and have your hair come out great. Check out my tutorial on how to do this popular look:

What You’ll Need:

Step 1: Put your hair up into a bump-free ponytail.

Step 2: Cut the end of the sock so that there are holes on both sides. Pull the sock through your ponytail.

Step 3: This is the hard part. Start tucking the ends under while slowly rolling the sock down toward your head. At this point you may feel like it isn’t coming out right but just keep tucking and rolling so that no ends are sticking out and adjusting so that your hair covers the sock completely.

Step 4: Once you’re down to your head, do some final tucking under, making the bun tighter. Use bobby pins to tackle any fly-aways and to make it sturdier.

Step 5: Spritz on some hair spray, maybe add an accessory like the one in this picture and you’re done! What I’ve learned from trying to create a sock bun is to keep practicing. It may take a few tries but don’t give up.

Happy hair-doing, Collegiettes!
