Why Leonardo DiCaprio is the Best Thing That Has Ever Happened to Us

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

I think most of us can agree that Leonardo DiCaprio has blessed our lives on this earth. I mean just look at the man, he’s a beauty. He’s starred in over 30 movies and has won many awards for his acting, including his first Oscar in 2016. But not only is he easy on the eyes, he has a mission to make our world a better place, literally. This is one of the greatest things about Leo, he wants to use his platform to start making changes.

While his acting and movies are incredible, he has done a lot more for us then just that.

If you didn’t already know, Leonardo DiCaprio is a dedicated environmentalist. During the 2016 Oscars, we could see this in his acceptance speech where he talked about climate change. His foundation, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, had four main focus areas. These areas include “protecting biodiversity, oceans conservation, wildlands conservation, and climate change.” Because of his strong platform, Leo had traveled to many places around the world speaking about these issues and has reached out to very important people, including the pope. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has been working hard on improving the four areas I have just touched on since 1998 and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Having someone that is such a strong public figure take control on something that is so harmful to our environment is truly inspiring.
