I’m going to let you in on one of my new favorite sites for fashion addicts. I stumbled upon the site after watching the Oscars. I was researching into how to become a seat filler at large-scale events. Then I started racking my brain of what in the world would I wear? My closet has cocktail dresses busting out of it, but evening dresses? Not so much. Then I began to wonder how on earth would I be able to afford a gown to wear to an event, so I would fit in with all the A-list celebrities. This is when my new favorite site fell into my lap. Rent the Runway is a web heaven for all fashionistas with events in their near future.
How it works is you select the type of event or formal you will be heading to, then pick your size, and if you have a specific color in mind for the dress. Then you go through all of the options and when you finally find the dress that suits your style, you pay a super low fee and rent the dress for an allotted amount of time. The site also offers a fabulous feature, in which you can give and receive gift cards, so instead of getting ones to various stores in the mall, now you can use them towards the latest Reem Acra dress for your next outing and watch as all other girls get green with envy.
Having seen the infamous Sex and the City movie, I was introduced to the wondrous site called Bag Borrow or Steal, where you can rent hand bags galore. Paired with Rent the Runway – looking like a million bucks with the most high-end bags and dresses…a girl just can’t complain! So, if you have a sorority mixer, a fancy dinner party, or someone you know is getting married, now you have a way to dress in all the latest and greatest celebrity fashion, and sticker shock won’t be able to hold you back. You will be able to watch as all the eyes in the room watch you strutting your stuff at your next event, and only you know that the dress is yours for 72 more hours and cost next to nothing. Oh and did I mention they also rent out accessories? Talk about the best one stop shop! I am officially hooked, and I can’t wait until the next swanky soirée comes my way, because Rent the Runway will have me looking better than Angelina Jolie, no dramatic leg poses required.
