Clinton’s #presidentialface is None of Your Business, Mr. Priebus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Apparently, it’s a bad thing that Hillary Clinton looked “too” serious at the NBC Commander-in- Chief forum, according to the Chairman of the Repbulican National Committee Reince Priebus.

Why would she be serious? The topic of military families’ futures, nuclear weapons and the state of the United States Armed Forces isn’t even remotely serious, right?

Naturally, Twitter responded with a hashtag and angry replies. Social media celebrities like Matt Bellassai, an open supporter of Clinton, even added their own two cents.

Then followed the mini movement of women (and cats) posting pictures of their own #presidentialface.

This is why the Republican party faces criticism for being sexist. Reince Priebus isn’t even smiling in his own Twitter icon picture. Neither is Donald Trump, Priebus’ party’s candidate!

This type of insult rivals asking award winning actresses what they’re wearing instead of what they’re winning or a headline listing a woman’s husband’s name instead of her own in an article about HER accomplishments.

Reince Priebus, please join the rest of us in the 21st century. A woman’s job isn’t to smile. Currently, it’s to run for president of the United States.
