101 Things to Do Before You Graduate Iowa – #18: Celebrate New Years Eve in Style!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Before graduating Iowa there are so many things you don’t want to miss out on and look back and say, “I never knew about that” or “I wish I had done that”.  So here’s Iowa’s Her Campus Bucket List: 101 things to do before you graduate.  Try to see how many things you can do around campus in your spare time!

Let’s be honest, New Years Eve could be a chore.  Follow these easy steps and you could have the greatest Iowa New Years Eve ever!

1. Get your attire.  Downtown Iowa City has many deals right before Christmas time at all their boutiques.  Check out Catherine’s, Cheap & Chic, Inbox and other places to see their great holiday deals.   A lot of places will discount their New Years dresses and you could catch a great deal if you shop right after Christmas, but don’t forget to shop around for the best deals!

2. Online Browsing.  Look online for some great deals before you go in to shop for your clothes and alcohol.   Some places also allow print off coupons for your benefit!  Hey—saving $5 on the liquor gets you another drink at the bar!

3. Pregame!  To save some dough this New Years, have a pregame at your apartment or another friends place.  Having a “pre” party saves you some money.

 4. No date, no problem. Worried about your NewYears Eve kiss?  Go out with a bunch of your single girl friends instead of couples, so you don’t have the added stress of the midnight New Years Eve kiss.

 5. Don’t Stress!  Don’t Stress! Don’t Stress! No matter what happens or what doesn’t happen, don’t stress out and have a great time! It’s a new year which means new beginnings!

 6. Make a New Year’s Resolution That Counts! Think of things you want to change for 2012.  The most common resolutions are: going to the gym more, relaxing, getting better grades next semester.  Take what really matters to you and make it your resolution for 2012!
