What YOU Need to Transition Your Outfits this Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

The fall can be a challenging time to put outfits together. The weather can be unexpectedly warm or unexpectedly cold; but, with these must-have fashion trends, you’ll be sure to pull off chic looks this fall no matter what.

Cardigans

When looking to keep warm while tying outfits together, cardigans are what you need. Knee-length, waist-length, and even dusters are all the rave this fall. You can wear them over a tank top, a crop top, or my personal favorite, a bodysuit. Cardigans are extremely versatile. Get one with buttons and you can wear it as a blouse or even tuck it into your fave jeans. They are the best way to tie together a more comfy sweatpants look while still looking put together. You can’t sleep on cardigans this fall.

Scarves

Scarves are one of my favorite fall accessories. Why? Because they can go over ANYTHING. Put an infinity scarf over a t-shirt and you have officially autumn-fied your outfit. Wear a scarf with your favorite sweatshirt for an extra warm and cozy look.

Booties

Booties are this fall’s must-have shoe because they can so easily turn an outfit you loved this summer into an outfit you are sure to love this fall. Booties go great with skirts or shorts. One of my favorite fall transitional outfits is shorts, my favorite warm sweatshirt, and my Doc Marten booties. Outfits like these work especially for those warmer autumn days.

Denim Jackets

Denim jackets are extremely transitional and can tie any fall outfit together. They come especially handy for a night out while still wanting to keep your outfit looking hot. Wearing a low cut v-top with skinny jeans and a denim jacket is a great way to keep warm without taking away from your statement look.

Suede Skirts

Suede skirts are the newest fall statement piece. These skirts are flirty and keep you cool while transitioning into the fall. Paired with knee-high socks or your favorite sweatshirt, a suede skirt can make an outfit.

Sherpa

Keeping warm while looking cute? Count me in. Sherpa jackets are everywhere! Transitional fall outfits with sherpas are perfect for those days when the fall weather just isn’t cold enough for a coat. Sherpas are lightweight but do a great job of keeping things warm for those colder early fall days.

Leggings

A cult-fave, leggings are the best way to stay cozy and comfortable this fall. Yes, you can do both! Though amazing all year round, leggings truly shine in the fall. Whether with a jacket, sweatshirt, or hoodie, leggings are the best way to keep things versatile.

Biker Shorts

If you’re anything like me, you have a ton of biker shorts leftover from this past summer; don’t tuck them away just yet. Get those shorts on and pair them with an oversized sweatshirt or hoodie and you have the perfect transitional fall outfit. You’ll be warm on top but cute and trendy on the bottom!
