UConn alum’s brand Elsewhere Clothing holds pop-up shop on campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

“I was always into clothes and following trends but realized it was it was more than that and I wanted to create my own clothes. After awhile I was no longer satisfied with what I saw in the store so… here we are.”             -Julian Moran, creator of Elsewhere

In the Student Union, Elsewhere Clothing had a pop-up shop thanks to UConn’s Project Fashion club. The pop up shop consisted of Elsewhere signature pieces such as graphic sweatshirts, polo’s and ¾ zips.

Elsewhere is a sleek new brand of “futurewear” clothing designed and created by UConn alum class of ‘14, Julian Moran. Elsewhere is located in Brooklyn, NY and uniquely, all of their clothes are made in the USA.

Alongside Moran is his marketer who is currently a sophomore at UConn, Chazz Winter.  Winter is in charge of the website and social media platforms, such as their Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Winter also assists on the set of photo shoots, such as the pictures seen Elsewhere’s website.

Moran spoke about the reason why he started a clothing line and the meaning of the name “Elsewhere”. When asked why he decided on the name, the young designer said,  “I wanted to come up with something that really encapsulated ideas. Something infinite and not falling in line with the status quo.”

The UConn Student Entrepreneurial Office start-ups page explains Elsewhere as being “compelled by the idea that all people are travelers entitled to the pursuit of boundless innovation.”

“We strive to feed individuals’ insatiable curiosity regarding what lies beyond them. We recognize that at any given moment, people are circumscribed by unique areas to discover, people to understand, and culture to create – and we believe that to harness that creativity, one must simply look Elsewhere.”
