‘Tis The Season… For Co-op Christmas Shopping!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

It’s hard to believe that the holidays are almost here again! Unless you’re drowning in an overload of work, then winter break can’t come fast enough! Before you start camping out at Homer, it would be smart to get your Christmas shopping out of the way! The UConn Co-op has everything to satisfy everyone on your Nice, or Naughty, list.

Your parents may always say, “Oh you don’t have to get me anything.” But you know it’s your duty as a child to shell out just a bit of cash for the holidays, especially if they contribute to your college fund. Anything emblazoned with the UConn logo will sure to be a hit, parent’s love to show off their kids’ alma maters. For your dad you can’t go wrong with a UConn Hat ($16-20) or t-shirt ($9-20). But what’s better than a singing UConn bottle opener ($9.99) for when your dad cracks open a nice cold beer to watch, what else? The UConn Basketball game, of course! Unlike your father, your mother is another story and an understated UConn Wine Glass ($12.99) is much more her style. But if your mom relaxes more with scents and baths instead of alcohol, a Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Candle ($22.00) is also cute, smells wonderful, and gives back to charity; what could be better! Though if you’re trying to keep under a budget this holiday season (who isn’t?) Simple Scents Australian Soaps ($3.99 a piece) are the prefect stocking stuffer for your mom.

Siblings, younger or older, can be the hardest people to shop for mostly due to age gaps. If you have a little brother or sister at home delight them with UConn Sneaker Slippers (24.99) or a Husky Pillow Pet ($33.99), which have been flying off the shelves at the Co-op this season. Your older siblings may be in grad school or just graduated and desperately seeking a job during these tough times, help them relax with a UConn Shot Glass ($6.99). And for your sister give her the gift of organization with a Vera Bradley All-In Wristlet ($34.00), all of the new patterns are available at the Co-op.

Your friends at UConn and your friends from home deserve the same attention during gift giving time but we’re all on a budget so the E.L.F makeup stand includes lip gloss, eyeliner, nail polish, and more all for a dollar apiece; easiest way to stuff a stocking or a gift bag. During those long winter nights studying for an exam or watching a movie marathon, a 2-Piece Plush Pillow and Blanket Set ($14.99) is ideal for your friends here or afar. Do your friends need a better way to tote their keys and I.D. for a late night of partying? A Jewel Bracelet Lanyard ($7.99) adds just enough sparkle for the club. Winter is a time for sweets and what sounds better then Snowman themed Marshmallow Fudge ($8.99) to brighten your friend’s mood on any cloudy winter day.

Sometimes buying for the boyfriend can be the easiest (he tells you exactly what he wants) or the hardest (doesn’t even know what he wants from his parents). Usually the simplest gifts work best, like a UConn Fiki Football set ($9.99) for when he’s supposed to be studying. If you’re currently in an LDR (Long Distance Relationship) a picture frame ($14-20) filled with a cute couple-ly picture of the both of you will go nicely in his dorm  ( to always keep you in his mind when he’s hard at work or playing xbox).  But if your boyfriend is more musically inclined the Skull Candy Headphones ($24.95) will be great for his long walks to class and won’t break your bank. Wanna send some UConn cuteness his way? A UConn Husky stuffed animal will make anyone smile, especially if it came from you.

You can’t forget your furry friends at home who will be anxiously awaiting your arrival back from winter break. Walkies ($6.99) natural dog treats are a sweet and healthy way to show Fido, you never forgot him while you were away. Throw in a UConn Frisbee ($2.99) for some much needed play time with your pet.

And for those you won’t get a chance to see at the holidays make up for it by sending them a Cocoa Card ($5.99). A Christmas card containing a packet of hot chocolate will lift anyone’s holiday spirits.

Remember the Co-op offers 15% off Husky Merchandise on Basketball Home Game days. So hit the shelves and get your holiday shopping all checked
