UConn’s Quarterback, Tim Boyle, is not a new face to success. He was named Connecticut High School Coaches’ Association Player of the Year in high school along with leading his team to win three straight Class LL Championships. Last year he was the first true freshman to start for UConn since 2003.

Name: Tim Boyle

Major: Sports Management

Year of Graduation: 2017

What high school did you attend?

Xavier High School.

What position do you play on the football team?

I play Quarterback on the Football team.

Do you have a pre-game routine that gets you pumped?

Two pregame routines that get me pumped are listening to rap music, and breaking it down on the field with the team to our chant.

Is it difficult being a student-athlete?

It is difficult being a student-athlete because it is hard to manage your time. Meetings, practices and workouts control most of our day so focusing on schoolwork is hard, but it needs to be done. We can’t play on the team without good grades, so the coaches stress the importance of school.

What is your favorite thing about UConn?

My favorite thing about UConn is the size. It’s such a big school that you never see the same person twice in a day, and you always meet new people. The sports teams are obviously my favorite as well. The fans do a great job supporting all of the teams and the school spirit is great.

Do you have a favorite dining hall?

My favorite dining hall is South, the food is always great there.

What is the best meal you have ever had in a dining hall?

The best meal I’ve ever had in a dinning hall was BBQ Chicken Quesadillas with bacon in them. With a couple glasses of Powerade.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of football?

My favorite thing to do outside of football is to hang out with friends and go to the movies, bowling, or out to eat; and to just enjoy time away from football, because it’s always good to get away to clear your head.

Have you been to the dairy bar? (If not you need to go)

I have been to the dairy bar, many times. It’s my go to when I’m craving some ice cream. Nothing better than the homemade Dairy Bar ice cream.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

My favorite flavor is the chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, with hot fudge and Oreos on top. I love chocolate, a lot.

If you had to pick a career outside of sports, what would it be?

If I had to pick a career outside of sports I would be a Pediatrician because I love dealing with little kids.

If you had to pick a motto or a quote that you try to live by, what would it be?

I live by two mottos and the first one is “you can’t control the waves but you can learn to surf,” meaning that life gets hard sometimes, and you can’t control it. But it’s up to you to control and deal with the things in your power to try to cope and deal with life. The second motto I live by is “play every play like it’s your last play”…and that doesn’t only apply to football but it applies to life. Do everything to the fullest and take advantage of every opportunity you have because you never know when your time will come. So it’s critical to have fun and enjoy the little things.

Come support Tim and the rest of the UConn football team as they take on Temple University at their next home game on Saturday, September 27th at 12:00 pm! Go Huskies!
