Back in June, Daniel Caesar announced his Superpowers Tour with Montell Fish and immediately I knew I had to go. As soon as ticket sales were open I grabbed a general admission floor seat for his Boston show at MGM Fenway. I waited all summer long for this day to come (it came a lot faster than I thought it would), and Monday, Oct. 16 was the day! So finally, here is my take on the Superpowers Tour!

The opener

I for one am a huge Montell Fish fan and his performance did not disappoint. I’ve been to a handful of live performances and never had an opener come on stage right on time, but Montell did and it was utterly amazing! Not only was he perfectly prompt, he was a fantastic performer. He was extremely engaged with the audience and even hopped into the crowd for a few minutes. His performance was overall amazing and I would 1000% see him live again if given the chance!

Daniel Caesar…Of Course

So of course we all were really there to see Daniel, and his performance was better than what I was ready for! As most know he has two popular older albums; Freudian and CASE STUDY 101. Alongside those, he released a new album, NEVER ENOUGH back in April of this year. Going into the concert I really had no idea what he was going to play, hopeful that he would play his classics yet also wanting to hear some of his new releases. The second he got on stage he was singing a perfect ratio of new and old pieces which was so exciting. I think one of the best aspects of his performance was that he played each song through and then went directly into the next one — he didn’t waste any time! Another perfect part of his time on stage was that he sang some of his most popular hits acoustically which sounded actually insane! Not only did Daniel’s voice sound even better in person, but his stage presence was unmatched.

My Final take

To put it simply, my experience at Daniel Caesar’s Superpowers Tour was absolutely incredible. The venue was great, and the setlist was even better, but the artists themselves are what truly made this night so very special! My expectations were already high going into it but were quickly surpassed once the concert began. Not to mention Boston was a sold-out show, so saying the vibes were electric is an understatement. One piece of advice to take away from my experience; if you like Daniel Caesar, see him on tour…because it’s so extremely worth it and will leave you loving him and his music even more.
