Role at UConn Chief of Staff in USG

HC: What is your favorite part of your job?

BI: Making tangible contributions to the UConn community. Also, finding out first where free t-shirts are located.

HC: What is the hardest part of your job?

BI: Finding time to attend class or study. On a scale of 1 to “death”, studying ranks at around a 9 in my life. Also, accepting that this “job” doesn’t pay anything.

HC: What is advice you would give to other people trying to get involved in your organization?

BI: Get involved ASAP! And don’t be afraid to fail. I joined 4 different clubs my freshmen year and only stayed with one (USG). Be creative, be enthusiastic, and never be afraid to be yourself.

HC: How has your role or position as chief of staff affected your life while at UConn?

BI: I’ve made a ton of new friends (only lost a few in the process), learned way more than I ever wanted to know about how UConn is run and operates, and have had some of the most fun experiences of my life. College isn’t about getting good grades, or changing the campus- it’s about finding out who are you. Learning your strengths and weaknesses will help you for the rest of your life, and that is the best way being in USG has affected my life.

HC: What other activities are you involved in either on or off campus?

BI: I do Improv Comedy! I’m hilarious, actually. Read about it on Twitter. If you don’t have a twitter then I’ve already judged you- good luck being friends with me.

That’s a joke. Don’t quote me on that. I’ve also been an Orientation Leader (F Block!) and write comics for the Daily Campus. My favorite thing to do is eat wheat thins. Or wish that I had a smartphone. I do both equally as much.

HC: What plans do you have for next year within USG?

BI: I’m currently running for USG President! That means president of the entire student body! I’d represent every single undergrad on the state, local, and campus levels. Google my name sometime and you should find my platform. Or just friend me on facebook.

Danielle recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Communications and Spanish. Originally from Connecticut, she is excited for her new adventure in Cambridge. During her last semester at UConn she was the Marketing Director for Her Campus UConn and helped found the organization on campus. Throughout her time at school she enjoyed running, photography, rock climbing, and planning events for the different organizations she was involved with on campus. She looks to continue these hobbies in Cambridge and hope they can contribute to her ideas and goals with Her Campus.
