A Breakdown of the “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” Trailer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

SOS Gilmore fanGirls… the official trailer for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has been released and we dissected all 2 minutes and 26 seconds of it. Here is a breakdown of everything important that we saw and exactly what it means.

***Disclaimer: This article contains trailer spoilers.*** You can watch the trailer below.

What we hear to kick off the trailer: “Did we order Chinese, Greek, AND Italian food last night?” Lorelai asks Rory.

What it means: The Gilmore’s appetites haven’t changed one bit and remain greasy, unhealthy, and craving-induced.

What we see: 25 seconds in, we see Lorelai and Rory strolling through the streets of Stars Hollow with what appears to be Luke’s Diner cups in hand.

What it means: Safe to say that our favorite coffee shop is definitely still brewing.

What we see: A life-size portrait of the late Richard Gilmore in Emily’s house.

What we know: Emily hasn’t changed one bit and will likely be just as over the top and flashy as we remember.

What we heard: “This is my time to be rootless” – Rory.

What we can wonder: Earlier this week, fans grew frantic at the possibility of another Gilmore baby when the writers at Cosmo speculated that Rory was pregnant. Does Rory’s “rootless” remark deny this allegation? While, her carefree comment makes us wonder if she is commitment-less, Emily’s comment about Rory throwing up also sends us for a loop (see 0:56). What do you think? Tweet @UConnHC with your take on the potential pregnancy theory!

What we heard: “We’re happy… Luke and I are happy,” admits Lorelai just a minute into the trailer. Also seen, Luke scolding the Gilmores for their food choices (tater tots & donuts).

What we hope: Lorelai and Luke live happily ever after with adorable backward-hat babies.

What we see: An emotional Emily beside Richard’s grave.

What we can expect: The Gilmores will definitely be grieving the loss of Grandpa Richard and we’re curious to see how his passing will play out.

What we heard: “I’m feeling very lost these days. I have no job, I have no credit, I have no underwear.” – the once very put together, Rory Gilmore.

What we want to know: Why isn’t Rory working as a journalist? How did she lose her job? Is she broke? Why is she broke? What have the writers done with the Rory Gilmore we all knew and loved?

What we see: A bearded, and always snarky, Jess! (Yes… JESS!)

What we hope: While you may be #teamLogan or #teamDean, we are certainly curious to see where Rory’s love life stands, especially since she declined Logan’s proposal at the end of season 7.

What we see: A quick glance of Rory at Chilton.

What we wonder: What is she doing back there? Teaching? Visiting? Reminiscing about the days Paris tormented her?

What we see: Glimpses of Taylor, Babette, Michel, Dean, Sookie, Paris, Logan, and Kirk (at Friday night dinner we should add).

What we can concur: The #wholesquad will be back for at least a portion of the reunion, making the entire Stars Hollow family complete.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be released on Netflix on November 25.
