Ariana Grande Proves That ‘The Show Must Go On’

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Ariana Grande took on Brooklyn, New York at the Barclay’s Center on Saturday, September 26th for the first of two shows there.  Eariler in the day she made a guest appearance with Coldplay at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. She rushed back over to Brooklyn to join some of her loyal fans for a quick soundcheck and dance party where she rocked a black and white striped jump suit that she claimed, “Is so ugly, I think I need to burn it!” (Although many fans would agree that she rocked it!)

Who is Fancy was Ariana’s opener, and he started the show off singing his popular song “Goodbye” in a fashion-forward sparkly jacket.  Frankie Grande, Ariana’s half brother, danced his heart out singing to Who is Fancy’s songs right up front next to the stage. Next up was Prince Royce who serenaded the crowd singing in Spanish and then performed his song “Back it Up.” He even brought one lucky fan up on stage to sing to her. But everyone in the audience got lucky when he finished his set by taking his shirt off- talk about “Holy Abs!”

After this came the main event- Ariana herself. She kicked off the show with her famous girl-power song “Bang Bang” where she nailed Nicki Minaj’s rap.  She continued through her set list including “Best Mistake” which she sang looking extremely ~majestic~ on a floating cloud. Her dozens of dancers moved swiftly along the stage to make sure your eyes always had something to watch, and she constantly interacted with fans and dancers all with a huge smile on her face. She told the crowd about all of her family members in the crowd tonight and how Brooklyn always has a special place in her heart because she has so much family from there.

She impressed  the crowd with her insane vocals and high pitched notes. But the most impressing part of the show was when her music and microphone completely cut out during her performance of “Right There.” Ariana barely hesitated and continued on singing and dancing while she encouraged the crowd to sing along with her.  She finished the song and left the stage after thanking the crowd and soon after came back on with a smile on her face and ready to go again.
