Campus Cutie: Shawn Onyechi

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TX State chapter.

Name: Shawn Onyechi

Age: 22 years old

Major & classification: Exercise and Sports Science-Junior

IM: You’re well known on campus for your dedication to fitness. Do you have any cheat days/meals and if so what?

SO: My cheat day is Sunday, but recently I haven’t participated in any cheat meals due to strict dieting. I have been consuming healthy vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins religiously.

IM: Ideal girl?

SO: Ideally speaking, I would prefer a female that loves and respects her religion. A partner that truly believes in something greater than themselves is extraordinary to this era. I am a firm believer in Christ and I wouldn’t want my lady to be anything less. Also, I would compromise looks for a unique interesting personality. She must be confident to ultimately be herself.

IM: Celebrity crush?

SO: Jay-Z & Beyonce are the definition of a perfect couple.

IM: Favorite place to hang out on campus?

SO: The Texas State library. I love to read books and gather knowledge that will benefit me throughout my daily activities. The Texas State REC center is also my sanctuary, but I don’t consider it a hangout place. When approaching the Rec center, there is no plans to “hang out.” I strictly mean business.

IM: What is your biggest achievement?

SO: Meeting one of my best friends Claudio Mayen. Thereafter, we threw the uttermost bizarre pool party for his birthday at The Retreat. That established Endless Entertainment, which enabled us to contribute further to our community. Also, creating white girl Wednesday with Kareem Williams AKA John Tucker. We love diversity, and White Girl Wednesday is our unique way of displaying that. Keep in mind that we are fond of women from every ethnicity.

IM: You seem to be a polarizing figure on campus and in the Twitter-sphere. How do you deal with the hate online?

SO: People hate on me online? I had no idea.. but, Newton’s law states, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object. The direction of the force on the first object is opposite to the direction of the force on the second object. Forces always come in pairs, equal and opposite action-reaction force pairs.” Therefore, if I have “hate” online then it must mean the opposing “love” is present too. I believe in love, and I will continue to deliver it no matter how much hate I apparently receive. It is a blessing to be hated on, it only means you’re doing something right.

IM: Describe yourself in 3 words.

SO: Intriguing, mysterious, and blessed.

IM: Best advice you’ve ever received?

SO: Character is who you are when no one is watching.

IM: Favorite place in San Marcos?

SO: The beautiful San Marcos River

Student at Texas State University. Lover of all things beauty and TV related.
