Why Spotify Is The New Pandora

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Hey all you music lovers, listen up! If you haven’t jumped on the Spotfiy bandwagon, now would be a good time to start. I am writing to you as an avid Pandora Radio-lover-turned-Spotify-enthusiast. Spotify is now the way to go. Why? I am about to tell you. Stay tuned.

1. It is FREE and EASY! That’s right, FREE. It’s every college kids favorite word. You can easily go to Spotify’s web site and download Spotify for your desktop and if you are feeling ambitious, you can download the app for your mobile device here. You will be able to listen to hours of music free of charge with limited commercial interruptions. If you get hooked on Spotify, you can also try the 30 day free trial for Spotify Premium, which is commercial free. Could this get any better?

2. Yes, it can! Not only will you have access to free music, you will have millions of songs at your fingertips. Spotify allows you to search by artist and create a radio station much like Pandora, but Spotify has taken things one step further. You can listen to full albums easily and then star the albums or tracks that you like, adding them to your own personal starred playlist. Not only can you easily track songs and albums that you like, but you can begin to create playlists of your own that can then be shared with friends. That’s right, Spotify has made music social.

3. What better way to connect with friends than through music? No more “blowing up” your friends Facebook walls with numerous YouTube links. You can now send a message to any one of your friends through Spotify via Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr to spread the tunes you like. They will receive a message with a direct link that will take them back to the track or album that you recommended! There is also a continuous news feed to keep you updated with what your friends have been listening to. Spotify has integrated music sharing seamlessly into your social life.

With all of the great music out there and new artists to discover, why not make music listening easy and social? Spotify has thought outside the box and therefore is the new must have radio station. You can now take control of the music you want to listen to. A full album, the best an artist has to offer, a playlist created by your best friend, or a radio station can all be accomplished through Spotify. So what are you waiting for? Get downloading, let the music fill your days, and spread the music love.
