Top 5 Features of Erodr that No Other Social Media Apps Have

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Have you heard of this new social media app, Erodr?  While some people may be skeptical about trying new social media outlets, I’m here to show you the benefits. (Before I start– its a FREE app.)

1. Erodr is a streamer that only current college students have access to.

Your mom can’t join and your mom’s mom can’t join. In order to register for Erodr, you have to use your college e-mail. You can then filter the streamer to show only students from your school, or to show all college students that are using Erodr. Right now, there are only around 20 schools that have been selected as start-up schools. Tulane was selected because it is seen as a social school with a wide range of students that are active on social media.

2. You can post to specific groups of people.

Need a tampon and don’t want boys to see your post? Find a guy’s wallet on the ground and want to post to men within 100 yards to see if they’re still around? Do it. You can easily change the audience settings of a post by selecting “male only,” “female only,” “connections,” or “public.”

You can also post to people that are within certain distances of you by changing the range settings. If you don’t need everyone to see a post because it will be irrelevant to them (i.e., “anyone at the boot lose a gold bracelet?), you can post it to other rodies in a range from 10 miles to 100 yards.

3. You can post anonymously.

This is a great way to vent if you don’t want anyone to know how bitter you are. Also it provides for hilarious posts because no one cares what they say when they’re anonymous.

4. You can dislike posts.

Someone post something gross or offensive? Not a problem. Hit the thumbs down and the time the post lasts on the streamer will immediately go down, or erode (yes, that’s where the name comes from). The more people that dislike a post, the faster the post will disappear from the streamer. (Works the same way for likes – the more people that like a post, the longer it will stay on the streamer.)

5. Posts only exist on the app.

You can’t locate an Erodr post or picture online because it simply does not exist there. Eventually, everyone’s posts erode (disappear), so the streamer never gets boring and nothing is permanent. (WARNING: people can still take screenshots, so don’t be a fool — unless it’s anonymous.)

Try it out! (I’m on it and I love it.)
