Music to My Ears: Jazz Fest’s Top Hits

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

You didn’t need to attend JazzFest to be able to enjoy all the awesome music that was performed. Take a look at this week’s lineup, all featuring bands who played these past two weekends, and get a little taste of JazzFest in the comfort of your own home!

1. I Get Around – Beach Boys

The boys are back, ladies and gentlemen. “I Get Around” has been my favorite song since my dad starting playing it around the house when I was 10 years old. When southern California meets southern Louisiana, good things are sure to follow.

2. Hotel California – Eagles
The Eagles are one of JazzFest’s biggest headliners, so there is no way a lineup
would be complete without at least giving the band a shout out. The Eagles were undoubtedly the most successful band (in terms of highest-selling) of the 1970s and are still one of the most popular bands of all time. “Hotel California” is one of their biggest hits so it’s essential that all you music junkies out there be familiar with this awesome song.

3. Chicken Fried – Zac Brown Band
Even if country music isn’t your favorite, I guarantee that nearly everyone
can appreciate this song. Whether you’re a city or country girl, in just a few seconds, you’ll inevitably be feeling the “Proud to be American” vibes.

4. Up Up Up – GIVERS
The GIVERS are a recently formed band that hails from Lafayette, Louisiana. Ever since releasing their single “Up Up Up,”
the upbeat indie band has had a considerable amount of success. Not only did the band perform at JazzFest, but also COACHELLA and Lollapalooza offered them spots on their lineups. Don’t miss out on this up-and-coming band.

5. Paris (Ooh La La) – Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
This song just screams glamour and great energy, so I am definitely excited to include
this lesser-known band on this week’s lineup. Grace Potter & the Nocturnals was formed in 2004 in Vermont and have reached popularity within the past few years. Not only did they perform at JazzFest this year, but also they will be touring throughout the US this entire summer. Be sure to check them out in your hometown in the months to come!
