Five Movies to Get You Excited for the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

School has finally been winding down as finals end. This means there is more time for binge watching TV shows and movies. As its been getting closer to the holidays, one of my favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit is by watching movies with family and friends. Here are five festive movies, that I hope will get you into the holidays spirit.

  1. Elf

This movie stars Will Ferrell, who plays, and elf named Buddy. Buddy was a toddler who was raised in the North Pole by elves. He travels to New York City to find his real father and encounters a new culture and many new experiences. This comedy movie lets you watch Buddy go through new adventures gets you right into the holiday spirit.

  1. Home Alone

This movie is a classic holiday movie that my family and I watch every year together. This movie is about and eight-year-old boy, named Kevin, whose parents went on a trip to Paris and accidently left Kevin home alone. However, after Kevin’s parents leave, two men plan to rob the house and Kevin goes through many obstacles to protect his house.

  1. Love Actually

This movie is great to watch with a significant other and gets you excited for the holidays as well. This movie has a very long plot, but essentially the movie tells the love story of many different people. All the stories are related in some way.

  1. Four Christmases

This comedy is about a couple who every year tries to avoid celebrating Christmas with their families. They do this by going on exotic vacations. However, this year their flight gets cancelled and they must celebrate with their families Christmas. As time goes on in the movie the couple finds out about new secrets of each other.

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This Tim Burton film is about the experiences of Jack Skellington, who is used to scaring people every year in his town called Halloweentown. However, Jack goes through Christmastown, which is a very happy and colorful town. Jack does not like this and tries to take over the town.
