The Current: Kicking Back With a Little TV

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Television has always be a constant, comfortable, and compelling part of my life.
Many claim that they simply don’t have the time to follow a show or even flip on
the news. This is not the case for me. I enjoy being tuned in to the world while
watching a newscast or immersing myself in a fictional series. Those who know me
best could tell you about my extensive knowledge regarding my all-time favorite
show, “The O.C.” I may have even sent a petition to fight the unfortunate, but
inevitable, cancellation of the series.

That being said, the Emmys certainly are an award show favorite of mine. Last
night even racked up to be one of the best yet. Hosted by Jane Lynch and studded
with a plethora of my favorite television stars, it definitely was an entertaining
event. Shows like “Modern Family” left with many awards and even Charlie Sheen
wished “Two and a Half Men” the best of luck in its next season. The show was
scandal-free and drama-less.

In my opinion, this is a good thing. Such spectacle should be saved for the scripted
shows. Awards shows should be full of congratulations and promise for the future.
For, like many things, every good show comes to an end. “The O.C.” sure did. One
can only enjoy it while it’s here and commemorate it when it’s gone.
