Bad Weather, Good Outfit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

If you knew me, you would know that I hate rainy days – it ruins my hair, I’m
perpetually damp, and I am forced to wear rain gear. Normally, I try to avoid the
outside world while it is raining, but if I skipped class every time it rained, I would
have a seriously low GPA.

So, if I have to go to class in dreadful weather, I might as
well attempt to look cute. And, amazingly enough, it’s possible to do so. My favorite
rainy day outfit includes black leggings, a long shirt/sweater, rain boots, and a cute
jacket. Grab these three items and look fab in drabby weather!

 1.  Cute rain boots
They’re everywhere and in every design you could possibly want. I’ve
seen skulls, Ralph Lauren Polo horses, plaid, flowers, etc. I prefer tall,
solid colored boots – mainly black – because they go with anything,
but some of my friends have designs on their boots that show off their
personalities, and sometimes the boots, paired with jeans and a plain top,
jazz up the outfit.

2.  The Classic Trench Coat
The trench coat is a classic piece that is perfect for many different
occasions, especially rainy days. You can stick with a basic neutral
trench, or you can spice up a gloomy, gray, rainy day with a bright
color. Obviously, I am obsessed with Burberry’s trenches, but for more
affordable prices, I personally love Target’s Merona® Water Repellent
Long Trench Coat in black/gray plaid.

3.  Accessorize with an Umbrella
Umbrellas are a great way to add a little flair to a rainy day outfit. Don’t
purchase an expensive, because if you’re anything like me, you will a)
forget it when you really need it and go purchase another one, b) you will
break and/or lose it not long after its purchase. I recommend buying a
few cheaper umbrellas in various colors so you are not stuck with the
same outfit rainy day after rainy day. They’re available at your local drug
store, the amazing Target, department stores, etc.
