Your Guide to Wearing College Gear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

We all know that school never really begins without a mini shopping spree at the campus bookstore. Whethers it’s a Jumbos tank top or a Tufts hat, it important to show school spirit early by sporting our very own brown and blue. For those who want to rock their college logo without losing their sense of style,  here are some great ways to make your school gear look good on you!

1. The Classic: College Sweatshirt

The crewneck college sweatshirt look is a staple item for every closet. You can either dress down the sweatshirt with a pair of jeans or dress it up with a cute pencil skirt! Some fun ways to shake up this classic look are to pair it with a funky button-down underneath, a cute skirt, or a statement necklace!

2. Don’t Be Afraid to Innovate!

If your sweatshirt is looking frumpy, don’t be afraid to make some changes! Cutting off the hood can create a sexy off-the-shoulder look while still keeping it cozy and relaxed. Turning a sweatshirt into a sweatshirt-crop top can give your sweatshirt a more modern look with a calf-length tight skirt.

3. Take Sporty to a New Level

Athletic wear is a big trend right now–use it to your advantage with college gear! Running shorts are a cute staple that can easily be dressed up: Pair your favorite college gym shorts with a simple tee, a denim jacket, and a fun scarf, and you have a cute-casual outfit that can go from out on the field to in a classroom.

4. Accessorize Your Outfit With School Spirit

Even if school spirit isn’t totally your thing, you can still represent your school without making it a big deal. Wearing your school’s scarf during the wintertime is an easy and discrete way to show school pride. Pair it with a blazer to get a polished and preppy look. Or you can wear your school colors with socks and pair them with a simple skirt to create a stylish school-girl look.
