Tufts Love Guru on Celebrity Crushes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

Single or taken, chances are that you have a celebrity crush. They can be actors, athletes, models, famous entrepreneurs, or even imaginary television or movie personas. While most of us are aware that our chances of meeting our celebrity crushes are unlikely, many of us still keep hoping for that opportunity to come. This week, I went around asking your fellow Jumbos about their celebrity crushes, and here’s what they had to say.

Here’s what your freshmen had to say…

Freshman Girl: Liam Hemsworth. Yum!

Agreed. If I were Miley, I would have never ended that engagement.

Freshman Boy: Wait this is anonymous right? I don’t want to ruin my chances with Emma Stone.

No worries, I promise not to tell Emma.

And the sophomores…

Sophomore Girl: Ryan Reynolds. He’s just hot.

I would agree, but I really like his wife, Blake Lively. Those two are going to have ridiculously good-looking kids.

Sophomore Boy: Natalie Portman is the one for me. She’s got beauty and brains, not to mention a degree from Harvard.

You can’t go wrong with Natalie. I guess you’ll have to go abroad to Paris because she recently moved to the city of lights.

The juniors are crushing on…

Junior Girl: I like Jesse McCartney because he’s a triple threat.

Yeah, I want him and his “beautiful soul” too…

Junior Boy: I’d have to say Michelle Lewin. She’s a beautiful fitness model with a great body.

Normally, I’m not a huge fan of fitness models; but Michelle is different. She’s beautiful and, like myself, a Venezuelan woman.  (spoiler alert!)

Finally, the seniors…

Senior Girl: Brad Pitt from Troy has to be the one. He’s so sexy, and that was his prime.

Girl, I completely agree. The idea of watching Troy all over again just makes my mouth water.

Senior Boy: Without a doubt, my celebrity crush is Christie Mack. It’s self-explanatory.

That’s such a guy move to choose a porn star. While I love films, I haven’t really dipped my feet into that genre of entertainment and I prefer not to. I’m sure she’s a cool girl though.

All in all, celebrity crushes will always have their places in our hearts. My parents have been married for over 20 years, and I still hear about Clooney and Anniston from day to day. For me, it’s Michael Ballack, a famous German soccer player. Ever since I was 11, his gorgeous face and impeccable body have had their place in my heart (regardless of the fact that he’s 37, married, has three kids, and that I don’t speak German). Crushes don’t have to be realistic. They’re just fun to have!

Let your minds venture, and go ahead and fantasize about a celebrity crush. There’s nothing wrong with that. We all do it. Celebrity crushes not only represent the unknown, but they serve as an escape from our day-to-day lives.
