After nine years of fame and success as arguably the best tight end in the league, Rob Gronkowski has declared his decision to retire before the upcoming season. His retirement comes as sad news for Patriots fans everywhere, but Gronk’s impressive career will stay in their memories for years to come.

Gronkowski was drafted to the Patriots when he was only 20 years old. At the age of 29 going on 30, he has decided that his time as a football star has come to an end. He cherishes the time he had with the team, sharing his retirement over Instagram in a heartfelt post thanking his teammates and coaches.

Teammate Tom Brady and Coach Bill Belichick have published statements thanking Gronkowski for his role in the Patriots success and their 3 super bowl championships during his time on the field.

New England fans may be sad to say goodbye to Robert Gronkowski, but they can be rest assured that Brady won’t be retiring just yet and the Patriots can continue their role as one of the best teams in the National Football League.
