Converse Rubber Tracks Private Tour

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

This Tuesday, Her Campus Tufts was invited to a private tour of the newest Converse Rubber Tracks studio in Boston. Located at North Station, Converse Rubber Tracks just started its recording business this summer. We had the opportunity to sit down and listen to the story of Converse Rubber Tracks from four amazing panelists, including studio manager Evan Kenny, director of music marketing Jed Lewis, Converse PR representative Keith Gulla and electronic artist Nicole Marie.

The music scene has always seemed to be linked closely with wearing a pair of Chucks on stage; this is exactly where the concept of Converse Rubber Tracks began. It started out with a very simple idea to provide local artists a chance to record at a studio. The catch? None. Artists can record in the studio for free, no strings attached. The first Converse Rubber Tracks studio opened in Brooklyn, NY in 2011, and since then, the studio has gone global with multiple studios across the country and around the world. Recording at a Converse Rubber Tracks studio is basically every young independent artist’s dream.

After our meeting, we went on a private tour around the studio and got to take a peek at their high-tech music mixers. The studio itself took a year and a half to build and everything was of top quality. From the guitars, microphones, drum sets to headphones in the studio, all equipment was highly professional. Perhaps the most impressive part, however, is the brainstorming help from Evan, who provides artists with music inspiration the entire day of their visit.

The reason why Converse Rubber Tracks studio chose Boston as its next location is because of the young and vibrant energy. With so many colleges around the city, the new Converse Rubber Tracks has never been short of applications since its grand opening on July 1st. So far there have already been 60 bands that recorded in the studio, including one of the panelists, Nicole from Orchids. She was beyond excited to share her story and explain that Converse Rubber Tracks is the only studio that customizes according to each individual artist. Converse Rubber Tracks continues to seek passionate artists, and tries to cover as many music genres as possible.

At the end of the tour, we each got to walk away with a free pair of Chucks. (Yes, you read that right!) But we definitely felt like we left with more than a few handshakes, small talks and white high-top sneakers. The simple idea of connecting Converse with music was very inspiring to learn about, and we are thrilled to see how many possibilities it can create within the young city we live in.
