How To to Host Your Best Friendsgiving Ever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Trinity chapter.

There is nothing better then having an excuse to have two times the Thanksgiving. Two times the Thanksgiving means two times the food and fun.  The best way to do this is by having a Friendsgiving! There is not better way to come together before the separation anxiety sets in over break. Getting together with your friends, having delectable food and catching up are all in the name of this fantastic event.  Here are a few tips to making your Friendsgiving possible and easy.

Don’t put it all on yourself

Hosting any type of Thanksgiving event can get overwhelming.  As easy way of relieving some of the stress is by not putting the entire burden on you.  Make a list of separate items different people can contribute.  Having everyone bring one or a few items will take some of the stress off your shoulders.

Table Setting

Along with Thanksgiving comes a beautiful table setting.  There are many easy DIY tricks to making a boring table look amazing.   Make some fun napkins or coasters.  Another easy way to spice up a table is by making place settings with nametags of each guest’s name.

Make Cute Drinks

Any party needs a cute drink.  Friendsgiving is not an exception.  Make a fun fall drink that your friends will love! Apple cider or cranberry cocktails are an awesome start.  Here’s an easy way to make spiked apple cider!

1/4 gallon apple cider

1/2 cup dark rum

1/2 cup cinnamon schnapps

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cut into large chunks

1/2 lemon, juiced

Mix together the cider, rum, and schnapps in a large pitcher. Add the apples to a small bowl and toss them with the lemon juice. Thread the diced apples onto skewers. Pour the spiked cider into glasses filled with ice, then garnish with an apple skewer and serve.

Make a fun playlist

No holiday party is complete without a good playlist.  Throw together some songs everyone will love and dance to.  After the spiked apple cider you won’t want to miss your friends dance moves!  And it isn’t to early to add a few Christmas songs…is it ever to early?

Try Out New Thanksgiving Recipes

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to break out the recipes you’ve wanted to cook all year.  Make sure your guests come hungry and are ready to feast on whatever’s in front of them.  And who cares if it dosen’t come out perfect, your friends will still appreciate you trying!

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
