The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide: Temple Bookstore Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

The holidays are full of fuzzy socks, unhealthy numbers of candy canes, and nearly nauseating amounts of holiday cheer. (Keyword: nearly.)

Overall, this time of the year is generally complete with happiness and stress-free activities. That is, until you are waiting in an hour long line at Target on Christmas Eve – while last minute Christmas shopping for your loved ones.

Well, not this year. Remain stress free this winter break by doing all your Christmas shopping at Temple’s bookstore located at the Howard Gittis Student Center. Or, easier still, browse the bookstore online. There are all sorts of gifts you can buy for your mom, dad, siblings, and even that boyfriend you don’t have.

Mom

Moms are the best, aren’t they? They take care of you when you’re sick, make you home-cooked meals, and probably call you a bit too often. So, what do you get the woman who literally does it all? No matter what you get her, it’ll probably fall short of the tropical vacation that she deserves. So, opt for a Temple ugly Christmas sweater. It’s cozy, adorable, and festive — what more could a woman want? And if she hates it? She probably won’t tell you.

Dad

Shopping for your dad is seriously difficult. He already has you as a daughter — what more could he possibly want? After constant searching and scouring the internet, you’ll probably end up purchasing the most dad gift of all time: a hat. But good news: the Temple bookstore has tons of hats. You’re hardest decision will be whether to buy him a winter hat or a baseball hat. As an added bonus, the Temple logo on the hat might take him back to his #college days. Yay dad!

Sister/Brother

Chances are, your sister and/or brother is proud of you for pursuing your dreams and getting an education at Temple. And, if they’re younger, they probably look up to you and your go-getter demeanor. This holiday season, get them a Temple T-shirt or sweatshirt at the bookstore, where there are countless options with all different logos and colors. Now, they’ll be able to rep their older, or younger, sibling back at home. At this point, you might as well give them your signed autograph while you’re at it.

Best Friend

Your best friend deserves the world, but honestly, you’re on a budget. This Christmas, give him/her the gift of comfort. That’s right, sweatpants. Who couldn’t benefit from being cozy and comfortable this season? It’s more than acceptable to wear sweatpants eight out of seven days of the week during winter, so this is truly the ideal gift.

Boyfriend

Boyfriends are not exactly fun to shop for. You know they’ll most likely tell you they like what you got them. But, chances are, they didn’t actually want the button up shirt that matches your eyes, not theirs. And that cologne that smells like roses? Probably wasn’t on the top of their list. Lucky for you, the Temple bookstore has a large variety of quality winter jackets for men. Coming in various reds, grays, whites, and blacks, these jackets are sure to be something that your bf will actually wear.

That Distant Relative

There’s always that distant relative that you barely know, but still feel obligated for one reason or another to buy a gift during the Christmas season. Getting something for someone you know little about is difficult. Clothing is a no because you run the risk of getting the wrong size. Food won’t work either, because what if they’re a picky eater? But, you know what everyone needs? Water. Literally, we all need water to just survive. This December, get your distant aunt/uncle/cousin/whoever a Temple water bottle. It may sound like a lame gift, but the Temple water bottles are both sturdy and useful.

Regardless of who is on your Christmas list this year, you can avoid the business of last minute Christmas shopping at your local mall by simply shopping the deals of Temple’s bookstore. With Xmas shopping put to rest, you’ll be able to spend break enjoying some candy canes and, of course, being obnoxiously jolly.
