Things to do in Philadelphia: Winter Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

It’s not always fun to go out and do things in the winter because of the dreary weather, but it doesn’t have to be this way! As Temple students, we live so close to Center City that it’s impossible not to have something to do. Here are some fun things to do throughout the winter with your friends and roommates!

Visit Urban Jungle

Located in  East Passyunk, Urban Jungle is perfect for new and old plant lovers. This plant shop can help you bring a literal urban jungle to your dorm, and even has terrarium-making workshops for beginners.

Make a candle

Wax + Wine is a great place to experience candle-making with friends. The company allows you to go through the whole candle-making process, drink some wine with friends, and then watch your candle cool. You also get to walk out with your candle that day!

Go ice skating

There’s no time like the winter to go ice skating! While most people go to Dilworth Park to ice skate, mix it up, and try places like the Blue Cross Riverrink Winterfest. Instead of having a view of City Hall, you’d get an awesome view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

Restaurant Week!

East Passyunk’s 9th annual Restaurant Week will be held Feb. 22 to March 5. It’s not only a great way to support local businesses, but you’re also guaranteed delicious food.

Go to a museum

Philadelphia is home to great museums, from the classic Philadelphia Museum of Art to the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. These museums are far from boring and often have great student discounts.

Overall, it’s impossible to be bored in Philadelphia with so many different things to do. It’s time to take advantage of your four years at Temple and try some new and fun activities!
