Products that Have Helped My Organization This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

This semester I chose to stay home because of Covid, which meant I had to get creative in order to succeed academically. Doing classes from home has been a struggle for me so I had to find different ways to organize my school work among my personal life. For me, organization is more than just keeping things neat, but it’s also straightening out dozens of mental notes. Taking six classes and working this semester has made me look for supplies to plan out my days.. Here are five things that have helped me so far!

A Wall Calendar

As a visual person, I need to see my plans laid out in front of me. I use my phone and another calendar for appointments and other scheduling, but this calendar is perfect for strictly academic use. It has plenty of room for notes making it really helpful for laying out due dates, meetings, and classes every day.

Gel Pens

As dorky as it may seem, I love color coding! I have always been the type to designate a color to a class (green is always science, right?) so having a wide variety of choices allows me to specify each of my classes. At Temple, we use Canvas for all of our classes so I usually try to set a color online then match it to one of my pens. They work super well and I use them in my planner as well as my calendar!

2021 Planner

The holy grail of organization: a planner! In high school, I never used my agenda, but in senior year when I had more commitments, I realized I needed one. I’m a leftie so I prefer ones without spirals. I also like having weekly and monthly pages to write homework and due dates in.

Laptop Riser

This is one of the products I use to keep my space neat. This laptop riser is sturdy and looks great with any setup. I gave away my old desk and replaced it with a smaller one, so I lost a lot of space to keep stuff, so this has been a helpful way to have some extra space on my desk. It also works well with your webcam and can give you better angles on Zoom!

Post-It Daily Planner

I recently saw these Post-it sticky planners as Target and I knew I had to get a pack! They have everything you may need to plan out your day if you like daily planning. I like to make to-do lists but I often have a hard time sticking to a schedule since it is so general. This is an awesome way to section out your day and keep specific things in mind.
