Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson’s New “Conspiracy” Palette Just Broke the Internet. Here’s Why:

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson’s new palette “Conspiracy” just broke the internet and people are losing it. Yes, you read that right. For those of you who don’t know, Jeffree Star is a ridiculously-iconic makeup artist/creator. His own beauty company, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, is considered top notch in the makeup world. Shane Dawson is a Youtube star, who was one of the first to become a celebrity as a “Youtuber” and is known for his vlog-style and conspiracy theory videos. So, you’re probably asking how the heck these two got together to create a makeup palette that people are absolutely losing their minds over. Don’t worry — we’ll start from the beginning.

Over the past year-ish, Shane has been making a Youtube series about Youtube celebrities that have had plenty of scandals and are known for being problematic — take Jake Paul or Tana Mongeau, for example. Of course, since Jeffree is known for for unapologetically speaking his mind, which has gotten him in trouble a time or ten, Shane did a series called “The Secret Life of Jeffree Star.” Shane jokingly said that the two should collab on a palette… and little did we all know, it was around then when the process of creating the “Conspiracy” palette began. Buckle up y’all, it’s about to get awesome.

Fast forward to September 24, Shane dropped a trailer for his new series “The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star,” where Shane gave sneak peeks of the collection they were making and everyone LOST THEIR MINDS. Wait what?? I thought they were joking!? Is this even real?? Am I even real??? The series was six episodes and each one revealed more and more about the palette, and we all became more and more hyped. Even my boyfriend who couldn’t care less about makeup, Jeffree or Shane became a full-on stan and beauty guru — the excitement was real y’all.

Then…it happened.

On October 29, Shane finally released episode six and revealed the entire collection. There were tears, smiles, screams, riots — ok, maybe I’m being a little dramatic — but it was AWESOME.

The collection had tons of items like lipsticks, mirrors, bags and tracksuits, and the main theme of it all was all things conspiracy theory, creepy and cool. The main item is the Conspiracy palette that has 18 shades and comes in sickening packaging.

The case is one of the signature Jeffree eyeshadow palettes. It is sturdy and has two metal clasps at the front, although the top of the case comes into a triangle in the center, as a cool AF ode to Shane and his obsession with the Illuminati. The shiny black, hypnotic lines against the matte black is stunning and adds so much dimension. And that’s just the outside!

The shades themselves are also ~classic Jeffree.~ Some are wild and exciting — like the shades Trisha and Food Videos. Others are more muted and natural, like Tanacon and Diet Rootbeer, which means you can get a complete look out of this one palette. If you haven’t already caught on, Shane and Jeffree came up with iconic and hilarious names for their shades like Illuminatea, Ranch and Pig-ment. The stamps in each of the shades are so unique, my favorite being the pig and the tea cup. The details in this thing are insane.

Sadly, these two are way too good at their job and got us so hyped for the palette release that as soon as the collection launched, the whole site crashed and people couldn’t buy it for hours. Two days after the launch, every single item had been sold out, including the $30 pillow of Jeffree’s boyfriend’s face which is honestly pretty iconic.

Overall, I’m a little salty I couldn’t get my hands on the palette, but, hey, it was still a fun ride. I highly recommend y’all check out the Youtube series, it gives such a cool and unique insight to the entire process of the production. Shane and Jeffree make an unlikely pair & now they’re the most iconic duo on the internet!
