As a reader you probably saw this article and picked it up for a laugh. I’ll admit it, beauty articles are hysterical because they are the same every time. “The inside is what matters most—do not worry about how everyone sees you, blah blah blah.”
Personally though, I believe that the outside matters most. Shocker right? But it’s really true. Did you ever see those Disney princess movies when you were younger, or a recent Disney movie like “The Princess and the Frog?” Think long and hard about what makes a particular Disney princess beautiful.
Sure, she has a pretty face, and her intelligence is okay, but the attribute that truly made her beautiful was the confidence that she exudes when she walks, with her head always towards the sky. Princesses do not stare at their feet as they walk. Princess Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog” is beautiful because she shows her pride without being arrogant.
Most of you probably know that some beauty companies such as Dove Soaps and Bare Minerals started campaigns based upon true beauty and are broadcasting their message on commercials all across the country. Picture those commercials for a moment and the women in them. How do they look? What are their mannerisms? Are they smiling?
When I look at those commercials I see strong women with smiles on their faces, a chin that is tilted up, and eyes that are warm and happy. Physical beauty? Not completely important. Inner beauty? Most definitely. Beauty in how they portray themselves? 100%. All three of these together make the perfect trifecta of beauty.
Why is it so important to portray yourself well to the world? Well the answer is simple, really. As freshman Lauren G. puts it, “ Your hardest critic is yourself, if you’re confident in your beauty the world will never doubt it.” Accept yourself, or even better: embrace yourself. Show the world who you are and never walk with uncertainty. You are a true beauty, so share it! Always remember the Dove commercials and show your inner princess every second of every day. Then and only then will your true beauty shine through.
