Philadelphia is well-known for many things; their delicious cheese steaks, crazy-passionate fans, and being the city of Brotherly Love are at the top of the list, but Philly’s rich music culture should be just as admired and well-known.

Philadelphia is the city where some of the most legendary artists came from such as Pink, Meek Mill, Lil Uzi Vert, and even Christian McBride. I believe it is crucial for the music scene in Philly stays as vibrant and lively as it has always been. These are some of the best music venues around Philadelphia that host live music performances all year round.

  1. The Fillmore

Neighborhood: Fishtown

The Fillmore is located in the dynamic Fishtown neighborhood and is one of the bigger venues Philly has to offer. The former metal factory is so spacious it can accommodate about 2,500 guests, so definitely make sure to invite friends when checking out this spot! Doors are open Wednesday through Sunday year-round. The Fillmore provides legendary experiences combined with delicious culinary creations making this venue a must on one’s hit list!

  1. World Cafe Live

Neighborhood: University City

This venue is truly a gem to Philadelphians, World Cafe Live is a non-profit independent venue open Tuesday through Saturday. They offer a unique mix of concerts and events and constantly add new artists/activities weekly to their calendar. The best part about this venue is the lounge connected to it! Whether you crave a tasty snack or a three-course meal World Cafe Live Lounge has it all.

  1. The Rotunda

Neighborhood: University City

This diverse venue has all sorts of artists performing at it making it a perfect fit for all music lovers! The Rotunda has shows and events daily, depending on the week, and has hosted some of the most successful artists in the industry. Musicians like Spoon, John Legend, and even Wiz Kalifa have all performed here- really putting in perspective the diversity this venue has to offer!

  1. Union Transfer

Neighborhood: Callowhill

I think Union Transfer has the perfect balance between nostalgic vibes and a modern concert experience.  The venue provides an impressive lineup of indie, rock, and alternative acts. Union Transfer hosts shows and events daily depending on the week, making it the perfect place to explore new music and artists.

  1. The Fire

Neighborhood: Northern Liberties

Saving the best for last (in my opinion), The Fire is the city’s oldest original music club. Shows and events are typically held Wednesday through Sunday and the possibilities are endless at this venue! The Fire showcases all-scale indie rock, heavy metal, and glam-pop acts. They also host CD-release parties and free open mic nights on Mondays. Truly making this venue a fan-favorite spot for multiple occasions!

Whether you’re an indie music lover or a total metalhead; there is a venue for all music genres here in the city of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia is home to some of the most legendary music artists and getting to experience where they started is the best part of it all. If that is not reason enough to check out one of these venues, getting to discover new music and culinary creations should do the trick!
