Getting back into my school routine means getting back into listening to so much new music. I am the type of person who needs to have music playing to do any and all tasks, so I’ve been listening non-stop! Although I’m creating new playlists with dozens of new songs, there are five that have dropped in the past month or so that I am literally obsessed with and CANNOT stop listening to! Oh, and there’s no single genre in my selection — I am a fan of most types of music!

“Vampire” by Dominic Fike

This song has become my new addiction since it dropped in early August as a part of What Could Possibly Go Wrong, Fike’s debut album. The smooth guitar riff and gentle, relaxed vocals transport me from the streets of Philadelphia to a beach at sunset. “Vampire” reminds me of all the things I loved about Fike’s hit song, “3 Nights,” but this song is better. It’s sexy and sinful, filled with imaginative lyrics. Whether on a drive at night or getting ready to go out, this song puts you in the perfect mood and will have you listening again and again.

“Positions” by Ariana Grande

When I say I’ve already listened to this song a shameful amount of times, I mean it. This song exceeded my already high expectations, as it is the perfect, laid back pop song we ALL needed. Grande’s vocal tracking and beautiful harmonies work together perfectly alongside a catchy chorus and infectious percussion which make the song an instant hit! It feels light and easy — the perfect song to hype yourself up and dance to in your room! Also, check out the music video because it is just so cute!

“Baptize” by Spillage Village

I think this song is absolutely incredible. The rap verses are lyrically genius and the beat is intense in all the best ways. Olu and WowGr8 of EARTHGANG as well as J.I.D (one of my favorite rappers) each deliver such strategic and complex verses that grab your attention and make you really listen. Each of their individual cadences are unique and their writing is top-notch along with a catchy hook that ties a perfect bow on this track! So. Good. The group just released a “Tiny Desk” on YouTube that was insanely good — make sure to check it out!

“damn Right” by AUDREY NUNA

AUDREY NUNA is an incredible artist who my boyfriend and I swear is destined to blow up soon. This song demonstrates all the reasons NUNA deserves worldwide recognition! Her flow while rapping is so fun and lighthearted, but still with a lot of purpose. She knows her destination and won’t deliver a song that’s not top notch which helps to bring her to the top. This song makes you want to listen over and over again since it is catchy and playful and makes you want to be her friend!

“Damage” by H.E.R.

Wow, H.E.R. really never misses. Ever since I saw her Grammy performance last year, H.E.R has fascinated me and gained all my interest and respect. This song is no exception to her perfect discography, as her vocals are so meaningful and sincere. I have not stopped listening to this song since the minute it entered my radar. The beat is so sexy and so is her honesty and vocal runs. The song is so romantic and chilling all at the same time, making it so wonderful.

Overall, these 5 songs are must-haves in any playlist and you should definitely go give them a listen!
