I have only been gone a handful of days

Three days and three nights

It feels as though

I left an eternity ago

I still smell your perfume

Lingering on my cloths

Even though it feels I haven’t

Seen you in forever

My case is still full

My “bed” unmade

I wait for the day I will see you again

I dream of me there, all warm in our bed

Cuddled and snuggled as the fire bled

The ice and the frost only drawing you near

To the point that I hear your heart beating in my ears

The sweetest of rhymes that I long for my dear

The sound of your voice is all I dream of here.

The nights here are nothing so dear

The heat is unbearable the nights drone on

I fall asleep to the sound of a hundred heartbeats gone wrong

I’ve only been here a few days but I long for you all the same

But I promise my dear I will make it home to you

Nothing to fear

I will be home with you as the winter draws near.
