Thoughts Everyone Has During the Fall Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

If you’re a freshman/transfer…

Cue “A Whole New World” from The Little Mermaid

Going to college or transferring colleges is one of the most nerve-wracking, yet exciting, moments of one’s life. You have the opportunity to meet new people, join some clubs, go Greek, and explore who you are these next four years. Basically, it’s that fresh start that everyone brags about in high school. Plus, the Fall semester is, arguably, one of the nicest times of the year due to the high influx of new students who all want to make friends.

Ugh, why did I pick that 8am?

Been there, done that. No way am I ever going back, especially after returning from summer vacation where we all fell asleep around 2am. Sometimes we get stuck with no priority in picking classes or we just missed our time slot due to a killer hangover. Either way, you’re mentally kicking yourself for not taking responsibility last semester and now you are going to suffer through this one. You’re probably wondering if it’s too late to change classes or debating on whether or not you actually need this class at all (isn’t this an elective?). You’re also wondering how the heck you ever woke up this early for high school because there is no way that this is natural.

Football Season!

One of the best perks of college is attending some of TCU’s football games. Nothing shows school pride like tailgating with some friends and showing some love for our fellow Frogs.

“Fall Back”

Come November 6th we all get an extra hour of sleep due to daylights savings time! Another reason why the fall time is much better than the spring. I mean, who doesn’t love sleep?

Great time for shopping

Not exactly an academic phenomenon, but who doesn’t love scoring some great deals? Maybe you just want to buy some candy for Halloween or go big on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Maybe Christmas shopping is your passion. Either way, everyone can find major sales this time of the year.

There’s Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, and December is only a half month.

At TCU, we have a mini Fall break in October so that, coupled with Thanksgiving and the fact that December mainly consists of dead days and finals, means we have a lot of time off. This is perfect for those who aren’t too keen on their schedule this term because the breaks make it seem like school is going by much faster.
