Let’s get real. Student life might be one of the most stressful, fast-paced eras that anyone will face during their time on this planet. But there’s so much to appreciate about this season: being young, having an abundance of friends, and learning how to live like an adult. When you need a break from the adulting (and trust me, we all do), nothing helps like a night out listening to the best live music your town has to offer. Here are my picks for the top concerts in DFW this spring- one for each month of the semester.

PUNKS & PAINTERS @ KILLER’S TACOS: JAN 27

Yeah, alright, we’re starting with a DEEP cut. Eight artists are playing for anyone who wants to sit and enjoy great music and great tacos. What led me to this wild find? mkn coffee, a band that has released three singles so far. Honestly, I only looked further into this band because of their name, but I was pleasantly surprised by their acoustic and low-key alternative songs. Seriously, I need more than just these three songs, mkn coffee. When’s the album dropping?

Stephen Sanchez: Feb 03

Do I talk about Stephen too much? Have I been a crazed fangirl since day one? Do I recommend him to anyone and everyone that asks (and sometimes to people who didn’t ask)? Yes. Probably. Doesn’t matter. Stephen is coming to DFW in February and again later this year, and he’s been KILLING it as a TikTok sensation. If you know him, you love him, and if you don’t know him, you’re bound to get just as hooked as the rest of us.

Colony House: Mar 25

My favorite band is finally coming to town! This is a show that I wouldn’t miss, even if I had a mid-term the next day. This group has gotten me through thick and thin with their rockin’ sound and Nashville feel. Remarkably, their live shows are just as good, if not better, than their recordings. I can’t wait to see them perform their new album, The Cannonballers, live and in person for the first time. And I hope to see you there too!

The Music City Hit-Makers: Apr 21

This one is for all you country music fans. Now, I know it isn’t your typical country show, but let me assure you- you will recognize almost every song these writers play. The Hit-Makers are a group of Nashville’s award-winning country music songwriters that perform their music with acoustic guitars and beautiful symphonic arrangements. These writers have created countless classics, and seeing them is like being in the presence of country music royalty crowned with cowboy hats.

Ashe: May 14

What a way to end the semester! With Ashe, you’ll hear pop hits and alternative grooves that are sure to end the school year with a bang. She blew up when her hit song, “Moral of the Story,” was used in the soundtrack of To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, and her music has been gaining popularity ever since. Did I mention she’s collaborated with Niall Horan, Stephen Sanchez, and FINNEAS? A total girl-boss résumé, if I do say so myself.

Live music is easy to find in our sweet city. Artists are traveling to DFW constantly, and they add shows here all the time. If none of these concerts peaked your interest, check out https://www.bandsintown.com/ to find all the best shows near you.
