Family Weekend is almost here! You’ve been at school for an entire month (how crazy is that?!) and started your own life at TCU. This weekend is the perfect opportunity to show off your school and college town to your fam with none of the added pressure of moving in. Maybe your family helped you move in August, but for some collegiettes™, this is the first chance to show your family your new home away from home. From free meals away from the BLUU to cheering on the Horned Frogs when they play against SMU, this weekend will be fully packed with fun events. To get your family better acquainted with TCU and the Fort Worth community, here is a list of some of the most important places to show them!

1. Billy Bob’s and the Fort Worth Stockyards

If your parents are in town on Thursday night, put your dancing shoes on and take your fam to one of the largest honky tonks in Texas! Nothing like a little line dancing and country music to get them used to Texas and remind them why you fell in love with TCU.

2. Take them out to eat at one of Fort Worth’s many delicious restaurants.

After a month or so at school, you and the BLUU are probably ready to take a break. With so many amazing restaurants to choose from, there will be no shortage of dining options. If you’re looking for a rustic, laid-back atmosphere, try Woodshed Smokehouse or Love’s Burger place. For Mexican food, try Fuzzy’s Tacos, Joe T. Garcia’s, Chuy’s…the list goes on and on!

3. West 7th Street

Need something sweet after dinner? Head to West 7th for a variety of dessert options! From Sweet Sammie’s to Steel City Pops, this street is a Fort Worth staple. Your family will love the elegant and classy vibe of West 7th, with bright tea lights strung across the buildings and the city of Fort Worth right down the street.

4. Sundance Square

Do the touristy thing and take a trip into the city! Walk around Sundance Square and show your family downtown Fort Worth. Shameless plug: on Saturday morning, there will be a market at Sundance Square so stop by and see what the vendors have to offer!

5. TCU Football

It wouldn’t be Family Weekend without some TCU football! Throw on your purple dress and cowboy boots and show your family one of the best things about TCU! They will love walking along Frog Alley before the game and seeing everyone getting excited. Cheering on your Horned Frogs together really epitomizes what TCU is all about. After, take a celebratory walk around campus. Don’t forget to yell “Go Frogs” wherever you go!

Have fun this weekend and remember that your family is coming to see YOU! No matter what you do, they’ll love spending time with you at your new home and seeing your TCU experience come to life. So enjoy that time with your family and remember: GO FROGS!
