Comfort Food for Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

With May just a few weeks away, we are all about to enter the busiest weeks of the semester. This is the time our professors decide to cram in three essays, two projects, and countless numbers of last minute exams. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be trying our best to finish the semester on a good note, but things can get overwhelming. Sometimes we just need a break, and a great way to take a breather is by consuming comfort food. Here are a few places in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that can be a great way to indulge while taking a study break:

The Original Cupcakery

With locations in both Fort Worth and Dallas, you can head to Sundance Square for some sweets and people watching or make a trip to Uptown in Dallas. The Original Cupcakery offers handcrafted cakes baked from fresh ingredients daily. May’s featured cupcakes include: Jameson, Double Chocolate Stout, and Lady Bunny. With a wide variety of cupcakes, you can’t go wrong!

La Duni

Located on McKinney Ave. in Dallas, La Duni serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so if you decide to take a study break and explore Dallas, this is a must stop. While their main courses are mouthwatering, the best part of La Duni’s menu is the dessert. Boasting dishes such as Cuatro Leches, Nutella Milk Chocolate Cake, and even an expresso bar, this restaurant will satisfy that sweet tooth for sure!

Shinjuku Station

Shinjuku Station is a Japanese cuisine restaurant that serves some of the best sushi in town. Located on Magnolia Street, this restaurant is nearby and is an experience that every sushi-loving Frog should discover. Shinjuku’s main courses are satisfying and will turn you into a sushi snob. Though it is not a dessert restaurant, the few desserts Shinjuku Station does offer are worth it. The dessert menu includes avoca coffee, assorted mochi, and house-made Japanese cheesecake. Just remember to come early, the place fills up fast!

Melt

Melt is a well-known ice cream shop in Fort Worth. At least one of our friends have posted a picture in front of that bright yellow wall. Melt is also on Magnolia Street in Fort Worth. With ever changing flavors, this is your chance to try something new. Melt also offers vegan ice cream, so there’s literally something for everyone! Grab a friend and take a trip here for a quick and easy break!

There are so many places in the DFW area to eat desserts to your heart’s content. As finals season comes around, don’t forget to take breaks, relax, and treat yourself. Good luck with your finals!
