Campus Cutie: Sam Witherspoon

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

Meet Sam Witherspoon!

Name: Sam Witherspoon

Year: Class of 2019

Hometown: Houston, Texas

Major: Pre-Business

Relationship Status: Single

Q: What is your favorite TCU memory so far?

A: “The night before dead days me and some friends stayed up all night exploring Fort Worth. We rode the rentable bikes to downtown Fort Worth and road them around the main downtown streets. We didn’t get back to campus until 5:00 am and then we climbed to the top of the stadium to watch the sunrise after devouring some bagels from Einstein’s. Overall it was an amazing night and my favorite TCU memory I’ve had so far.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

A: “I would love to travel to New Zealand. My father has been to Australia and that part of the world many times due to his job but has never taken me. It would be amazing to see the beautiful wildlife and the insane landscapes that dominate this area. Hopefully I can go sometime in my lifetime and truly experience such a different place.”

Q: What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

A: “One thing people don’t know about me is that I am obsessed with movies and movie trivia. I’ve seen way too many movies in my life and know the names of obscure actors that no one has any clue who they are. It’s a cool party trick I guess you could say but other than that it’s a sort of weird thing for me to know so much about.”

Q: If you could have dinner with someone famous, who would it be? Why?

A: “I would have dinner with Tom Hanks. He is my favorite actor of all time and have always wanted to have the opportunity to meet him. I have seen almost every single one of his movies and would be thrilled to ask him about his experience with each and every one.”

Q: What is your idea of a perfect date?

A: “A perfect date to me would probably involve a dinner at a hole in the wall restaurant with amazing authentic food. Then probably going to a concert of maybe a big event like a professional basketball game in some big city’s downtown. Afterwards probably walking around the city finding cool hidden parts of it and just adventuring around.”

Q: What is your spirit animal? Why?

A: “My spirit animal is most likely a kangaroo. They are super high energy just like me and always seem to be doing something cool or interesting. They are almost always with other kangaroos making them extroverted just like me. Also they just seem to have a lot of fun but also know when it’s time to be serious and get down to business which is how I like to be.”

Q: If you had to be born in a different time period, past or present, what would it be? Why?

A: “I would probably enjoy living in the past. Not super far back like the 1800s or something like that, but probably around the 1970s to the 1990s because it seemed a lot simpler then. There wasn’t social media or the constant feeling of missing out and people really enjoyed doing the things they were doing in the moment. Not to mention I love the music from all of these decades and would love to see some concerts of famous artists at their prime!”
