15 Things to do Before You Graduate From TCU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

One of my favorite things about TCU is its long standing traditions and overwhelming school pride. TCU is unique in its campus community, love for its horned frogs and obsession with the color purple. Since I’ve started school here, if there’s anything I’ve learned it’s this: four years here isn’t nearly enough to enjoy everything that TCU offers, but that I need to do my very best to soak it all up. With such limited time to take in all TCU has to offer, I’ve put together a list of 15 must-do things you have to complete before you graduate. Here’s the complete bucket list:

  1. Jump in Frog Fountain: Everyone does it before they graduate; it’s a must do.
  2. Watch the sunrise and sunset at Amon G. Carter Stadium (best decision you could possibly make; pro tip: take a Chick-fil-A shake with you if you want to kill two birds with one stone)
  3. Run the steps at the stadium: Hardest workout possible, but if you time it right, you can watch the sunset after your workout- great reward if you ask me.
  4. Rub the nose of the Horned Frog Statue for good luck: Do it before a test and you’ll walk in feeling much more confident!
  5. Meet Coach P, the legend himself. Just crossed this one off my bucket list this semester!
  6. See the horned frog at the zoo: So cute, it’s a must!
  7. Get on TV at least once at a football game: I recommend going early and trying to get on the screen at the TCU v. Baylor game; that’ll really show your horned frog pride.
  8. Take formal pictures at the fountain: Basic, but also a necessary rite of passage.
  9. Go on the swing in front of Jarvis: Found this walking around campus one day and it might be my favorite spot on campus now. If you’re having a rough day, go and take 10 minutes out of your day to relax on this swing; you’ll thank me.
  10. Help out at KinderFrogs: Kids are adorable, especially when they’re baby frogs. Enough said. Go frogs.
  11. Get on the football field and take a picture as proof: Still waiting to accomplish this one myself…
  12. Go to Billy Bob’s Texas and two step: Minor suggestion- bring a date. It’s a lot more fun when you bring friends with you that know how to two step and will be your dance partner!
  13. Attend a petting zoo, go to a concert in the commons, or go on a bounce house (better yet, do all three): The Crew has like three events a week with crazy fun things to do on campus. A few weeks ago I got to pet a slot… Only at TCU is school this fun.
  14. Explore Magnolia Ave (eat some Melt Ice Cream- the best!) and get a picture in front of the RiffRam wall for proof. Go Frogs!
  15. Last but not least, make sure you go to Frog Camp and if you loved it (how could you not), maybe head down the path of becoming a facilitator or even a director!

I hope in your four years here you are able to cross everything off this bucket list and more. Part to being a horned frog is enjoying all that TCU has to offer and really taking advantage of every opportunity thrown your way. I hope that this list highlighted a few of the best things here and that it inspired you to do something you haven’t thought of! Go Frogs & Go TCU!
