National Voter Registration Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

Every year, the fourth Tuesday in September is National Voter Registration Day. It brings thousands of people together across the nation to continue the movement of political activism and voter participation.

This year similar to last year, TCNJ Votes and Student Government along with the NAACP chapter at TCNJ, are hosting voter registration drives all week. From 11am-2pm, September 25-September 29, in both alumni grove and the student center, there will be students helping with voter registration.

National Voter Registration Day has proven to be helpful in the efforts of improving voter registration and turnout at The College of New Jersey. Over the past year, TCNJ has increased voter registration to 81.6% of TCNJ students registered and a turnout rate of 55.1% in the last election. This is a 6-point voter turnout increase from the 2012 presidential election.  National Voter Registration Day is just one of the days that help TCNJ in keeping voter participation high.

Stop by and register for this year’s election this week!
